How to choose your engagement session location?

I always tell my couples to treat their engagement session like a mini date. Think about what you love doing in your spare time. Is it a walk in the countryside or grabbing a beer in your favourite city? For Katie & Thomas, we decided to meet up in Nottingham’s Lace Market, a vibrant and colourful area that’s perfect for photos.

Lace Market Engagement Shoot

The Lace Market, with its charming streets and historic buildings, provided the perfect backdrop for some candid shots. Did you know that the Lace Market is one of the oldest parts of Nottingham? Dating back to the 6th century, it was originally the heart of the city’s textile industry. In the 19th century, it became world-famous for producing the finest lace, and the stunning Victorian buildings in the area were once bustling with lace manufacturers and merchants.

We started off with a fun twist – popping some fizz in the streets! There’s something about a midweek celebration that makes everything feel extra special. Katie & Thomas were naturals, and it was so much fun capturing their playful and loving energy.

The Best Engagement Shoot Locations In Nottingham

From The Lace Market, Nottingham Contemporary to Sneinton Market Avenues

From the Lace Market, we headed to the Nottingham Contemporary Art Gallery. We didn’t go in but if you have time I would definitely recommend it. The outside however is a dream with its modern architecture. I believe you can even get married there, which is super cool!

Next, we took a leisurely stroll through the city to Sneinton Market – a fab hub of independent businesses, makers, breweries and cafes. Just as we arrived, the sun peeked out from the clouds, making us smile and brightening everything up. We stopped at Blend, a fantastic spot for a coffee or a beer, and enjoyed the colourful courtyard adorned with hanging ribbons. It felt like they had decorated it just for us! Katie & Thomas even had a little dance in the sunshine – it was pure magic.
