A Perfect Venue for Museum Lovers

What a wonderful way to begin my 2025 wedding season—with the beautiful celebration of Jenny and Matt. They both work in the museum world, so the Derby Museum & Art Gallery was the perfect choice for their wedding day. The venue not only reflected their shared love of history and art but also provided a stunning backdrop for their photos.

Jenny and Matt chose dried flowers from Lytton Rose Botanical, adding a ta pop of colour that can be kept for many years to come. The vibrant yellow confetti from Your Confetti was a perfect complement, creating a joyful bursts of colour for the epic confetti photos.

Relaxed & Candid Wedding Photography

After the ceremony, we took a short walk along Saddler Gate to their reception at the Italian Mill. This short journey was the perfect time for them to take it all in and had great opportunities for relaxed, candid photos. It’s always such a joy when passers by share their well wishes, one of my fave things about capturing a city wedding.

Unique Wedding Venues in Derby

The reception venue, The Museum of Making, is a true gem for anyone who loves history, creativity, and unique spaces. Situated on the site of the world’s first factory, the museum is a celebration of Derby’s industrial heritage. The Italian Mill, with its mix of exposed brick, industrial beams, and large windows, provided a warm and character-filled space for Jenny and Matt’s celebrations.

One of the most memorable moments of the day was when we had access to a special room in the art gallery—a space filled with character and whimsy, reminiscent of a Wes Anderson film. Thanks to Nigel for making this happen! It was a unique and personal touch that felt perfectly suited to Jenny and Matt.
