Amy & Sam’s Love Story. A Sheffield wedding at The Chimney House
It’s not every day that a fellow photographer invites you to capture the most special moments of their life. When my friend Amy, a talented photographer, reached out to me to photograph her wedding with Sam, I couldn’t have been more thrilled. Recently celebrating their 10-year anniversary, Amy and Sam opted for an intimate wedding in the heart of Sheffield, at the award winning venue, The Chimney House.
The Chimney House: A Hidden Gem in the Heart of Sheffield
Amy and Sam had just celebrated their 10-year anniversary and wanted a super intimate wedding in Sheffield. They chose one of my favourite venues, The Chimney House, which is nestled in the vibrant and urban setting of Kelham Island. Let me tell you, it’s an absolute gem. The whole place has such a welcoming vibe and an interior that makes you feel right at home. (Well, your home + loads of candles and beautiful single stem flowers everywhere.) And speaking of flowers, they were created by Betty Flower Club, and Cat absolutely knocked it out of the park.
It was a rainy day in April (totally makes sense, right?). But Amy and Sam didn’t let that dampen their spirits. They armed themselves with a smile and a huge umbrella, and we headed out for some portraits around Kelham Island. The graffiti and industrial buildings around there provided such a playful backdrop for their photos.
Breaking Wedding Traditions at The Chimney House
One of the things I loved most about Amy and Sam’s wedding was that they kept it small and fuss-free. They had just 12 guests, and family and friends played a big role in making the day special. Instead of getting ready separately, they got ready together in the same room at the Psalter Hotel. And instead of Amy walking down the aisle, they stayed in the room and let their guests do it instead. After the ceremony, instead of a fancy wedding breakfast, they all headed back to a family home to celebrate. They really threw the rule book out the window and did things their way. It was so authentically them, and I couldn’t help but think that’s exactly how a wedding should be – all about you and doing things your way, not what you think people expect of you.
Peak District Wedding Adventure at Surprise View
After the reception at The Chimney House, we took a short drive out to Surprise View in the Peak District. Was it pouring with rain? YES. Did we still do it? HELL YES! So off we went on a little adventure, capturing their love amidst the glorious backdrop of the Peak District. We even added some confetti and popped open a bottle of fizz because, well, why not?
Sheffield Wedding Photography
I can’t even begin to express how much I loved Amy and Sam’s wedding. Not only did they marry their best friend, but they did it exactly their way, rain or shine. It was a reminder that your wedding should truly reflect who you are and not be confined by expectations. It was such a memorable experience. Can we do it again guys?
Well, that’s a wrap, my friend. I hope you enjoyed hearing about Amy and Sam’s special day. If you ever need some Sheffield wedding photography at The Chimney House or beyond, you know where to find me. I’m always here to capture those unforgettable moments.
Big Love,
